The peer to peer (P2P) data transfer is important for programs that use multi-GPU. The heterogeneous memory management (HMM), is a mechanism to treat CPU memory and GPU memory in a joint address space. It is an essential part of Unified Memory in heterogeneous computing, which frees the developer from manually handling data migration across different types of memories. Data will be automatically transferred and cached into the memory of the compute node. This programming model is gaining popularity, and for AMD GPU and ROCm, cards that support xnack replay can utilize this model if CONFIG_HSA_AMD_SVM=y -- System Information: Debian Release: trixie/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing'), (100, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 6.12.3-amd64 (SMP w/16 CPU threads; PREEMPT) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE not set Shell: /bin/sh linked to /usr/bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) LSM: AppArmor: enabled Versions of packages linux-image-amd64 depends on: pn linux-image-6.11.10-amd64 <none> pn linux-image-6.12.3-amd64 <none> pn linux-image-6.5.0-5-amd64 <none> linux-image-amd64 recommends no packages. linux-image-amd64 suggests no packages.
