I've now had an apparent hang with this configuration, so it's an
intermittent problem, as other people have said.
As suggested, pressing a key ("n", in this case) several times allowed
the boot to proceed successfully.
Insufficient entropy for /dev/random seems like a good guess for the
source of the problem.
