Now I gave it another try and added MODULE piix MODULE ide-generic MODULE ide-disk to the /etc/yaird/Default.cfg. After reconfiguring the linux-image-2.6.14-2-686 and rebooting I have DMA reenabled. Using only "MODULE piix" in the /etc/yaird/Default.cfg results in an unbootable system.
