Hi Uwe,

In the meantime I had found Tuxedo's driver package as well, not to
mention the project on github https://github.com/dante1613/Motorcomm-YT6801.
I just wonder how a renowned maker of Linux laptops comes to the
idea to add such exotic hardware to their main laptop line?

Let me share little insight: TUXEDO sells by request modified barebone notebooks and develops drivers for them. If less hardware modifications are required we can sell the final device cheaper. In this case it was decided that for the time being support via DKMS is sufficient and not worth the price increase resulting from requesting a hardware modification. Especially since the driver is already on it's way to upstream.

Also the yt6801 is somewhat new, but probably not too exotic in the near future. Because of this, I too hope that the driver for it is soon upstream ready.

Best regards,

Werner
