I'm confused as to why this has been closed, seemingly without
explanation (doesn't look to be fixed, and doesn't come with a fixed in
version tag)?  One person said the bug was no longer relevant for them and
their hardware.  Neither the original submitter nor other commenters on
the bug have confirmed the bug is no longer relevant on their hardware.
ec_sys.ko still does not exist in the latest debian kernel, but can be
obtained when using other third party kernels, so there's no technical
reason stopping it being compiled.
