I support this request. This will bring new webcam support for a lot of Intel-based laptops, including models that are actively advertised with Linux support and sold with Ubuntu/Fedora preinstalled.
Example: https://ubuntu.com/certified/202301-31165 The corresponding system is called Intel Image Processing Unit 6 (IPU6). Until now, this requires to build custom kernel modules and install firmware from third-party sources on Debian: https://github.com/intel/ipu6-drivers Since kernel 6.10, kernel modules are available in the tree and firmware in the Linux firmware distribution. https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/diff/?id=v6.10&id2=v6.9&dt=2 Regards Stephan
