I've been e-mail corresponding with Takashi Iwai with no success. It seems I'm the only one experiencing this, and I can't make it go away by fiddling with the bios settings or passing arguments to the modules. Maybe it's something very peculiar about my hardware, although it's strange that it works under kernels up to 2.6.8.
