The hanging happens at boot time before the system comes up so syslog has not started and dmesg is not available. The problem persists with 2.6.12. With ide4=noprobe the bootup is normal. I am unable to give any more information as I no longer have access to this system. I would have no objection if you close this bug as it does not seem to have happened on any other machine :-) Regards, Kapil. --
