Here only a commentary addition: I have discovered a work around at samba server level by configuring "unix extensions = yes" As I don't understand the intricacies of the fixes for this bug and the interplay with cifs-samba, I reported this issue also for package "cifs-utils": https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1029192
