Hi,
I've finally had a chance to try the 2.6.12 kernel, via the
linux-image-2.6.12-1-686_2.6.12-10_i386.deb from testing, on this
otherwise sarge system.
This works fine, at least with regard to mounting my usb stick. I will
test 2.6.12 further (I see it is actually based on 2.6.12.6), although
I'm wary of using a less-tested/more-recent version, even if it is off
the 'stable' branch of 2.6.12.
With regard to obtaining an updated 2.6.8 version for sarge, I'm
certainly willing to test a slightly 'tweaked' version, but not really
able to set this up myself here. Of course, if 2.6.12 (or .14) is
actually considered 'safe', then I'd be inclined to just recommend that
instead, if people other than myself do have this problem - although
that's probably not really a line that debian could/should officially
take, I suspect :)
Thanks for your help,
--
Neil
