Dear Maintainer,
an upgrade from linux-image-4.19.0-17-amd64=4.19.194-3 to
linux-image-4.19.0-18-amd64=4.19.208-1 rendered certain VMware virtual
disks unusable.
The affected VMware VM utilizes ordinary non-shared disks attached to a
VMware Paravirtual SCSI controller with no SCSI Bus Sharing. Those disks
are fine under linux-image-4.19.0-17 as well as linux-image-4.19.0-18.
The system has another set of disks which are shared with a different
VM, by using a second VMware Paravirtual SCSI controller whose SCSI Bus
Sharing is set to "Physical". Under linux-image-4.19.0-17, those disks
work as indended, under linux-image-4.19.0-18, they are reported to be
512b in size. Those 512b (under linux-image-4.19.0-18-amd64) are
identical to the first 512b of the full-sized device under
linux-image-4.19.0-17-amd64.
