Package: src:linux
Version: 4.9.2-2
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?
I hibernate using either the menu, or `systemctl hibernate.` The system
hibernates successfully, but on resuming, it crashes after extracting the
hibernation image. The system is ThinkPad X40, 1.4GHz Pentium M, 1GB RAM, 60GB
SSD.
   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
     ineffective)?
I used the troubleshooting information from
https://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentation/power/basic-pm-debugging.txt. When
that did not solve my problem, I accidentally noticed that kernel 3.16 was
effective to solve the issue. Hibernation works as expected in 3.16.
   * What was the outcome of this action?
The laptop passed the basic debugging steps, but fails to resume from actual
hibernation. It can resume fine from suspend-to-ram. Only a downgrade to kernel
3.16 has allowed me to use hibernate functionality
   * What outcome did you expect instead?
I was hoping that the laptop would resume from hibernation properly using a 4.x
kernel. Currently any 4.x kernel available in Debian exhibits this resume from
hibernation crash

I have previously reported the issue on the mailing list, but have not been
able to get any help or suggestions.
