You are right! The usb-c port does work, but only in one orientation!
I did get audio out working via the audio jack after fiddling
haphazardly with the dozens of audio control sliders, but was unable to
get the microphone to work. I think I had to unmute the left and right
headphone mux or something. I got some sign that the speakers were
enabled when muting or unmuting (a little pop sound each time), but no
working audio.
I will have to experiment. Thanks for the hints!
