Dear Maintainer,
What led up to the situation?
- Use of docker containers, causes the system to become non-responsive or
crash with kernel panic.
What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)?
- Further investigation lead to the realization that use of containers was
causing the crash. It appears the issue
has been resolved in newer kernels (4.x), but the patch is not present in
upstream 3.16 kernels or vanilla Jessie. The
patch being submitted was derived from the original patch listed here:
https://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/7180161/.
What was the outcome of this action?
- Without the patch mentioned above, the system crashes as described in the
post when running docker containers. With
the patch applied, the machine operates as expected.
