[...] The above says that installing firmware-misc-nonfree fixed a problem with firmware-misc-nonfree, which can't be right. Your subject says something about initramfs-tools-core, so I infer that installing (or upgrading) that fixed the error messages. But I think you already had initramfs-tools-core installed, as otherwise that error message wouldn't have appeared. Check in /var/log/dpkg.log - that will show whether initramfs-tools- core was newly installed or upgraded.
