I too am running the OS in a virtual environment (XenServer), so I wonder if that's a factor.

Any update to this bug? This is still occurring in the latest x86 PAE
kernel (4.9.110-3+deb9u6). The previously linked LKML post seems to
provide the fix (although I haven't tested).
