Dear Maintainer, *** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate *** * What led up to the situation? I was updating the linux headers from 4.9.0-6 to 4.9.0-7. * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)? Once every month I run apt-get dist-upgrade. That's what I did in this case. * What was the outcome of this action? The computer will load the headers, I am able to login, but after I enter my password, the computer screen goes gray, the fan kicks in, and the desktop will not load. In order to get my computer to work, I have to load the 4.9.0-6 headers. * What outcome did you expect instead? My computer to continue to work with the new header. -- System Information: Debian Release: 9.5 APT prefers stable-updates APT policy: (500, 'stable-updates'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 4.9.0-6-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) Versions of packages linux-headers-4.9.0-7-amd64 depends on: ii linux-compiler-gcc-6-x86 4.9.110-3+deb9u1 ii linux-headers-4.9.0-7-common 4.9.110-3+deb9u1 ii linux-kbuild-4.9 4.9.110-3+deb9u1 linux-headers-4.9.0-7-amd64 recommends no packages. linux-headers-4.9.0-7-amd64 suggests no packages. -- no debconf information
