Subject: linux-image-4.9.0-1-686-pae: Wifi does not work; works with 4.8.0-2 Package: src:linux Version: 4.9.2-2 Severity: important
Dear Maintainer, *** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate *** * What led up to the situation? When booting with linux-image-4.9.0-1-686-pae, wifi does not work. I can connect to my wifi network (and get a valid DHCP address) but there is no traffic (can not ping my gateway). If booting with the previous (still installed) kernel (linux-image-4.8.0-2-686-pae/4.8.15-2), wifi works fine. Wifi card model is: $ lspci|grep -i wifi 01:00.0 Network controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8188CE 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adapter (rev 01) * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)? * What was the outcome of this action? * What outcome did you expect instead? *** End of the template - remove these template lines *** -- Package-specific info: ** Version: Linux version 4.9.0-1-686-pae (debian-kernel@lists.debian.org) (gcc version 6.3.0 20161229 (Debian 6.3.0-2) ) #1 SMP Debian 4.9.2-2 (2017-01-12) ** Command line: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-4.9.0-1-686-pae root=UUID=aaaaa-bbbb-cccc-dddd-eeeee ro quiet ** Tainted: OE (12288) * Out-of-tree module has been loaded. * Unsigned module has been loaded. ** Kernel log: relevant messages from journalctl when enabling wifi: janv. 30 10:46:13 mycomputer NetworkManager[519]: <info> [1485769573.5247] manager: WiFi hardware radio set enabled janv. 30 10:46:13 mycomputer systemd[1]: Starting Load/Save RF Kill Switch Status... janv. 30 10:46:13 mycomputer systemd[1]: Started Load/Save RF Kill Switch Status. janv. 30 10:46:13 mycomputer NetworkManager[519]: <info> [1485769573.8717] audit: op="radio-control" arg="wireless-enabled:1" pid=1208 uid=1000 result="success" janv. 30 10:46:13 mycomputer NetworkManager[519]: <info> [1485769573.8729] manager: WiFi now enabled by radio killswitch janv. 30 10:46:13 mycomputer NetworkManager[519]: <info> [1485769573.9277] sup-iface[0x8143d3c0,wlan0]: supports 4 scan SSIDs janv. 30 10:46:13 mycomputer NetworkManager[519]: <info> [1485769573.9325] device (wlan0): supplicant interface state: starting -> ready janv. 30 10:46:13 mycomputer NetworkManager[519]: <info> [1485769573.9328] device (wlan0): state change: unavailable -> disconnected (reason 'supplicant-available') [20 30 42] janv. 30 10:46:13 mycomputer kernel: IPv6: ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): wlan0: link is not ready janv. 30 10:46:14 mycomputer NetworkManager[519]: <info> [1485769574.8964] device (wlan0): supplicant interface state: ready -> inactive janv. 30 10:46:14 mycomputer NetworkManager[519]: <info> [1485769574.9283] policy: auto-activating connection 'mywifinetwork' janv. 30 10:46:14 mycomputer NetworkManager[519]: <info> [1485769574.9356] device (wlan0): Activation: starting connection 'mywifinetwork' (wifi-UUID) janv. 30 10:46:14 mycomputer NetworkManager[519]: <info> [1485769574.9410] device (wlan0): state change: disconnected -> prepare (reason 'none') [30 40 0] janv. 30 10:46:14 mycomputer NetworkManager[519]: <info> [1485769574.9417] manager: NetworkManager state is now CONNECTING janv. 30 10:46:14 mycomputer NetworkManager[519]: <info> [1485769574.9588] device (wlan0): set-hw-addr: set-cloned MAC address to 60:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx (permanent) janv. 30 10:46:15 mycomputer kernel: IPv6: ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): wlan0: link is not ready janv. 30 10:46:15 mycomputer NetworkManager[519]: <info> [1485769575.3088] device (wlan0): supplicant interface state: inactive -> disabled janv. 30 10:46:15 mycomputer NetworkManager[519]: <info> [1485769575.3128] device (wlan0): state change: prepare -> config (reason 'none') [40 50 0] janv. 30 10:46:15 mycomputer NetworkManager[519]: <info> [1485769575.3147] device (wlan0): Activation: (wifi) access point 'mywifinetwork' has security, but secrets are required. janv. 30 10:46:15 mycomputer NetworkManager[519]: <info> [1485769575.3160] device (wlan0): state change: config -> need-auth (reason 'none') [50 60 0] janv. 30 10:46:15 mycomputer NetworkManager[519]: <info> [1485769575.3221] device (wlan0): supplicant interface state: disabled -> inactive janv. 30 10:46:15 mycomputer NetworkManager[519]: <info> [1485769575.3403] device (wlan0): state change: need-auth -> prepare (reason 'none') [60 40 0] janv. 30 10:46:15 mycomputer NetworkManager[519]: <info> [1485769575.3428] device (wlan0): state change: prepare -> config (reason 'none') [40 50 0] janv. 30 10:46:15 mycomputer NetworkManager[519]: <info> [1485769575.3436] device (wlan0): Activation: (wifi) connection 'mywifinetwork' has security, and secrets exist.
