The firmware-nonfree package is non-free because: - No real source code is provided for the firmware - Some licences do not permit creation of derivatives, or reverse- engineering - Some licences only permit use with a particular manufacturer's products - Some licences require presentation of a click-wrap licence when the firmware is distributed to end-users (see debian/config/ivtv/LICENSE and debian/config/ipw2x00/LICENSE)
None of the licences appear to preclude auto-building. I'm assuming that there is an arch:all builder for non-free packages; if not then we'll just have to remember not to do 'source' uploads of this package. Ben. -- Ben Hutchings When in doubt, use brute force. - Ken Thompson
