Please enlighten me (and feel free to add it to a FAQ or so): How are they supposed to replace mkinitrd? AFAICS they completely rely on the kernel 2.6 internal hardware detection features in order to calculate the required set of modules. We cannot just expect everyone to already have kernel 2.6 installed before installing a new linux-image package (no matter what Md says).
