The bug might be fixed in another way, too. At least my problem was that with 2.6 only 3.5 of 4GB were deteced. A similar server with kernel 2.4 shows all 4GB. As *more* than 4GB is relatively seldom nowadays, it might be interesting to find out, why kernel 2.6 hides the missing 512MB even if the option is explicitly called "4GB".
