Package: linux-image-2.6.12-1-686-smp Version: 2.6.12-1 Severity: important
My machine freezes occationally for several seconds, with dma_timer_expiry messages being printed to /var/log/messages: Apr 6 09:47:33 localhost kernel: hda: dma_timer_expiry: dma status == 0x21 Apr 6 09:47:44 localhost kernel: hda: DMA timeout error Apr 6 09:47:44 localhost kernel: hda: dma timeout error: status=0xd0 { Busy } Apr 6 09:47:44 localhost kernel: Apr 6 09:47:44 localhost kernel: hda: DMA disabled Apr 6 09:47:44 localhost kernel: ide0: reset: success The error occurs about once a day on my current kernel and with linux-image-2.6.11 non-smp. With 2.6.9 and .10 kernels, I got this problem much more frequently -- right *past* the point where I give up working on the machine.
