Package: linux-image-2.6.12-1-686 Severity: normal
setup: - grub not lilo - /boot separate partition - mbr - grub in /dev/hda1 (/boot) install linux-image-2.6.12-1-686: reboot, whammo. NOTHING boots. i get grub error messages about "must load linux kernel before initrd". on BOTH THE OLD AND THE NEW KERNEL. the only recovery method available is to do a rescue cd boot, install lilo, reboot, install grub, reboot. (due to the use of a 2.4 rescue cd and lvm for /usr and /var, grub install could not be done from the rescue cd, hence the use of lilo. an alternate - compatible - boot kernel could probably shortcut the use of lilo) -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable Architecture: i386 Kernel: Linux highfield 2.6.11-1-686 #1 Fri May 20 07:34:54 UTC 2005 i686 Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
