Package: kernel-source-2.6.8 Version: 2.6.8-15 Followup-For: Bug #272693 I am experiencing similar problems with my external USB harddisk.
Every access to the USB device hangs uninterruptible (D-state) after switching on the device. e.g. ------------------------ 18736 pts/8 D+ 0:00 cat /proc/bus/usb/devices 18391 pts/4 D 0:00 grep -q -i bus /proc/bus/usb/devices (-> after /etc/init.d restart) ------------------------ dmesg|tail shows up to: ------------------------ usb 5-4: new high speed USB device using address 6 scsi4 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage devices Vendor: USB 2.0 Model: Storage Device Rev: 0100 Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 02 SCSI device sda: 312581808 512-byte hdwr sectors (160042 MB) sda: assuming drive cache: write through /dev/scsi/host4/bus0/target0/lun0: ------------------------ 1. This doesn't happen always, but frequently. 2. I experienced similar (but worse) problems using the 2.4.27 kernel (see bug #297522). 3. After reboot it usually works immediately. 4. Rebooting seems not a good solution, I guess it should not hang in any case. -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.8-2-686-smp Locale: LANG=en_US, LC_CTYPE=en_US (charmap=ISO-8859-1) Versions of packages kernel-source-2.6.8 depends on: ii binutils 2.15-5 The GNU assembler, linker and bina ii bzip2 1.0.2-6 high-quality block-sorting file co ii coreutils [fileutils] 5.2.1-2 The GNU core utilities -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
