I believe that the "unknown patch" is supposed to be the result of running the "prune-non-free" script on the pristine kernel source (thus removing non-free source which Debian should not include even in the source upload). And I believe the prune-non-free script should just be a list of 'rm's. If anything more complicated is going on, it is probably a mistake or a bad idea. :-) -- This space intentionally left blank.
