First I installed sarge with 2.4.25 but since i could not boot from openfirmware with that kernel and quik, and also were not able to use the 2.6 kernel image because of the same problems with quik and the scsi module problem, I built my own 2.6 kernel form debian source with aic7xxx support in and mesh as modules i am now running debian from. I try later this week an rc1 maybe the problems are gone there. Bye Chris.
