Package: initrd-tools Version: 0.1.72 Severity: important I am recompiling the kernel to be used for diskless station with root over NFS. This machine only have SATA sil disks so I had to recompile the latest kernels. Using both 2.6.8-rc3 and 2.6.8-rc2 I get this error message:
Setting up kernel-image-2.6.8-rc2 (nfs0) ... Unknown DM device 254:0 Failed to create initrd image. dpkg: error processing kernel-image-2.6.8-rc2 (--install): subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 9 Errors were encountered while processing: kernel-image-2.6.8-rc2 I even tried to include the patch from #247054 but that didn't solve the problem. I don't know if this may be a hint: I am working in a chroot environment, with only /proc mounted.
