As described in http://www.uwsg.iu.edu/hypermail/linux/kernel/0307.2/0166.html files in /sys change their size if they are written to. But what disturbs me a little bit is this: $ ls -la /sys/block/hdb/queue/iosched/est_time -r--r--r-- 1 root root 4096 2004-06-28 20:15 est_time $ echo 0 > /sys/block/hdb/queue/iosched/est_time bash: est_time: Permission denied $ ls -la /sys/block/hdb/queue/iosched/est_time -r--r--r-- 1 root root 0 2004-06-28 20:15 est_time ie. files change their size even if they are not writeable! I believe that this should be cleaned up. As bugzilla.kernel.org says "no distribution kernels" I'm posting to debian-bugs first. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers testing APT policy: (850, 'testing'), (600, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.6-1-k7 Locale: LANG=de_AT, LC_CTYPE=de_AT Versions of packages kernel-image-2.6.6-1-k7 depends on: ii coreutils [fileutils] 5.0.91-2 The GNU core utilities ii fileutils 5.0.91-2 The GNU file management utilities ii initrd-tools 0.1.70 tools to create initrd image for p ii module-init-tools 3.0-pre10-4 tools for managing Linux kernel mo -- no debconf information
