Package: kernel-image-2.6.6-2-686-smp Version: 2.6.6-2 Severity: important On attempting to boot kernel-image-2.6.6-2-686-smp, I receive a flurry of messages all declaring that modprobe is unable to open any modules:
modprobe: FATAL: Could not open /lib/modules/2.6.6-2-686-smp/<path to module>: Read only file system Root filesystem is XFS, /boot is Ext2. Ultimately, init is unable to load, and the kernel panics. Kernel 2.6.6-1-686-smp boots fine, but remains unused because of nvidia modules problems. 2.6.5-1-686-smp has been working fine for months (Bug 253632 excepted). -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers unstable APT policy: (990, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.5-1-686-smp Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C Versions of packages kernel-image-2.6.6-2-686-smp depends on: ii coreutils [fileutils] 5.0.91-2 The GNU core utilities ii initrd-tools 0.1.70 tools to create initrd image for p ii module-init-tools 3.1-pre2-2 tools for managing Linux kernel mo -- no debconf information
