Package: initrd-tools Severity: important Some time ago, mkinitrd began failing on me. The error message is "Root is on a DM device, but dmsetup not installed". However, this is incorrect - / is on /dev/hda5, a very normal ATA hard drive. There are some LVM stuff on the machine, but not the root file system, so there should be no need to touch any DM/LVM stuff during the initrd phase of system startup. (Indeed, it never has either until recently.)
Severity set to important because this makes it impossible to install kernel-image debs. Installing dmsetup fixes the problem though, the resulting initrd is bootable. -- Tore Anderson -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
