It looks like you have Akonadi configured to use mysqld (one of three
options), but mysqld is not running. You should look into fixing
whatever the root cause of that is.

Which ones of akonadi-backend-mysql, akonadi-backend-postgresql and
akonadi-backend-sqlite are installed ?
What's the otput of "~/.config/akonadi/akonadiserverrc" ? Most
interesting is the line "Driver=..." under [General].
It could be that you were running akonadi-backend-mysql in the past and
that akonadi-backend-sqlite (the new default) has been installed instead
during the upgrade.
