I did "balooctl purge" initially on two machine to let it reindex
everything with all the fixes and improvements in place.

In both cases baloo stopped indexing, I bet it crashed, once on the
initial run. I logged out and logged again. Then it completed. Since then
it appears to be working just fine.

For the private laptop data only since quite recently it is capable of
indexing the files with contents. AFAIK it was working with the most recent
Plasma 5 version in Debian already, but it may be that I switched it to
index with contents for Plasma 6. Do not remember exactly. For a long time
I had set it to only index filenames.

That are my findings for Baloo.

There had been quite a number of improvements. For example meanwhile Baloo
used the filesystem ID if available and thus does not mistake the very same
BTRFS filesystem for a new filesystem and reindex everything once in a
while. That was very annoying.

But there also have been quite a number of resource usage related fixes.

Best,
