I'm running Debian/Testing on an AMD64 system.
I just replaced my Samsung HD monitor with a Samsung 4K, in the process
switching from a DVI cable to DisplayPort. While power-saving was
working perfectly on my old setup, it's not working with the new one.
Instead the screen goes blank then seems to be hunting for an input as
it shows the various potential inputs. It does this even when I set it
through the onscreen controls to use DisplayPort.
There's even an option in the monitor's on-screen settings to have it
power off after 1 - 4 hours. I tried that but all it did was ask me
after an hour if I wanted to power off. When I left the computer for a
longer period, it didn't seem to do anything.
I've not had this problem with other computers and monitors and the
setting in Plasma 5's settings to deal with this - screen energy saving
- is already enabled.
Is there something about DisplayPort that causes this behaviour or is it
specific to this monitor (Samsung LU28E490DS/ZA)?
