I just (painfully) upgraded my main desktop machine to stretch. For many years, going back to KDE3 days, I have had several widgets on my desktop showing real-time graphs of various items of interest (not just system things, but external items such as geomagnetic indices). The basic idea is that a script running in the background grabs values from somewhere and writes them to a local file in a suitable format, and then a desktop widget reads that file and appropriately updates a graphic item on the desktop.
How do I do this with KDE in stretch? Doc -- Web: http://enginehousebooks.com/drevans
