You're right, but it doesn't make a difference :( I also tried it with the exact socket parameter mysqld was started with (and now also with the mysql.socket file in above directory) to no avail. Interestingly enough, mysql_upgrade shows the same error, whether the socket exists or not :| I verified like this: $ cd ~/.local/share/akonadi/socket-mani/ $ ls -l insgesamt 0 srwxr-xr-x 1 zing zing 0 Aug 17 23:00 akonadiserver.socket srwxrwxrwx 1 zing zing 0 Aug 17 21:02 mysql.socket $ mysql_upgrade --socket mysql.socket Looking for 'mysql' as: mysql Looking for 'mysqlcheck' as: mysqlcheck FATAL ERROR: Upgrade failed Cheers, Johannes
