Hello Pino, hello Steve, hello everyone, I installed digikam, kipi plugins from experimental. I added ffmpegthumbs for thumbnails. I also added mplayerthumbs later just in case.
I was surprised at being greeted by the migration assistent, but then just went through it. (I read the mail you linked here in the other thread, Pino.) It basically appears to work. Yet I do not see video thumbnails. And clicking on a video does not produce any result. What may I be missing? I am willing to provide a bug report, but first want to check in whether someone has an idea about it. # apt-show-versions | egrep "digikam|kipi|thumbs|ffmpeg|^mplayer" | grep -v "i386" digikam:amd64/experimental 4:5.0.0-1 uptodate digikam-data:all/experimental 4:5.0.0-1 uptodate digikam-doc:all/sid 4:4.14.0-5 uptodate digikam-private-libs:amd64/experimental 4:5.0.0-1 uptodate ffmpeg:amd64/sid 7:3.1.2-1 uptodate ffmpegthumbnailer:amd64/sid 2.1.1-0.1+b2 uptodate ffmpegthumbs:amd64/sid 4:16.04.2-1 uptodate kipi-plugins:amd64/experimental 4:5.0.0-1 uptodate kipi-plugins-common:all/experimental 4:5.0.0-1 uptodate libffmpegthumbnailer4v5:amd64/sid 2.1.1-0.1+b2 uptodate libkf5kipi-bin:amd64/sid 16.04.0-2 uptodate libkf5kipi-data:all/sid 16.04.0-2 uptodate libkf5kipi31.0.0:amd64/sid 16.04.0-2 uptodate libxine2-ffmpeg:amd64/sid 1.2.6-1.1+b1 uptodate mplayer:amd64/sid 2:1.3.0-3 uptodate mplayerthumbs:amd64/sid 4:15.08.3-2 uptodate (Just upgrading digikam-doc now as well.)
