I have not followed the thread, but there is clearly a bug in whatever package installs /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/plugins/gsthumbnail.so Please file a bug against the package that provides it (dpkg -S /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/plugins/gsthumbnail.so to the rescue).
