There is a common misconception about this news. Aaron Seigo talked only about plasma-workspace, that is things in this git directory: <https://projects.kde.org/projects/kde/kde-workspace/repository> And if you think about it, these did not get any substantial (i.e. visible for end user) new feature in long time anyway.
