Isn't it the same in the Debian way? I don't use it since 3 years ago, I dont remember, to be honest... But I'm very aware that whenever a udgrade my kernel to a major release I have to reinstall my Nvidia driver as well, which is a "rompipalle" (balls-breaker or whatever they say, in English) thing, yes. > Ops, I beg your pardon, first you > need to kill any KDM/GDM/Xorg instance (but don't go to init 1!) Init 1, why? No, just exit graphical session, re-run the installer and then you can relaunch Xorg > by default it will remove everything before installing itself > again and if you have more than one kernel you must specify to NOT > remove any other kernel driver you might have compiled before. That's true. I don't use adittional kernels, just keep the the former one for some days when I upgrade to a newer in case this one works badly, then I uninstall the former, but it's true that for people who use sevearl kernels this may be a pain in the ass. I suppose it's a matter of needs: for users who have fulfilled our necessities with just a kernel from the repos I think reinstalling the driver a couple of times a year is less annoying that all that m-a process. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [email protected] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
