IF I assume MY plasma-desktop is the offender -- what is doing it? Krunner is not in this list. Plasmoids? Menus--nah. my phoneapplet which runs an xringd-type thread? No code calling hal or dbus that I put there. Digital Clock-nah. Any of the weather applets--I use YAWP. No stormy whether here past few days :-) Qalculate--neat and quiet if I do not type anything to it. Has a krunner equivalent as well. System-monitor (simple colored bar-graphs)? I tried removing it and that made no difference. Newer device-notifyer (a candidate, huh? but should be sitting on udev, not hal and dbus.) Guess what. Taking this off solves it!!!
