No, it's weird, but there should be a working blue button with an arrow to exit the session. Is it there? Anyhow Ctl + Alt + Backspace it's not really a viable option, if you want it back, you should tweak the xorg.conf file, otherwise use something similar like alt+sysprint+k, but indeed, to close your session all that you need is that blue button.
