Yes, I've gotten it working now too. I'm using Ubuntu's Xorg, and I compiled kwin's kompmgr from KDE's CVS. But after trying it, I found it was awfully slow, and the shadows didn't fade out; they looked really bad. So, I renamed my xcompmgr, and now my shadows look nice. That's the only feature I use, my graphics card (ATi sucks) is way too slow for transparency. But thanks for replying!
