Really strange.... I'd like you do the following: -Boot without X, this is deleting /etc/rc3.d/*kdm (or the login manager you use), and passing the arg '3' to grub/lilo prompt. And as root: # echo > /var/log/kdm.log' # echo > /var/log/messages # echo > /var/log/dmesg # echo > /var/log/kern.log Reboot and make the system crash. Then -Boot again without X and save ~/.xession-errors, /var/log/XFree86.0.log and all the other files to a safe place. -Tar.gz them and send it to me, it's not worth to flood the list. I will try to see if there is something unusual to get a clue.
