Hello, After hours of searching I have finally alsa running on debian sid kernel 2.6.3 (had to disable pci hotplug otherwise other kernel modules were loaded before alsa could be loaded)
I have two soundcard. One build on the motherboard (i810_audio) and a pci one (es1371). Both are visible with kmix and I can control both of them. I can use both of them directly using xmms for instance. But arts is not working. I have no sound with arts. How can I tell arts to use one of the cards? By using a /dev/dsp# (#stands for number) .xsession-errors: ALSA lib pcm_hw.c:494:(snd_pcm_hw_start) SNDRV_PCM_IOCTL_START failed: Broken pipe ALSA lib pcm_hw.c:494:(snd_pcm_hw_start) SNDRV_PCM_IOCTL_START failed: Broken pipe ALSA lib pcm_hw.c:494:(snd_pcm_hw_start) SNDRV_PCM_IOCTL_START failed: Broken pipe ALSA lib pcm_hw.c:494:(snd_pcm_hw_start) SNDRV_PCM_IOCTL_START failed: Broken pipe ALSA lib pcm_hw.c:494:(snd_pcm_hw_start) SNDRV_PCM_IOCTL_START failed: Broken pipe ALSA lib pcm_hw.c:494:(snd_pcm_hw_start) SNDRV_PCM_IOCTL_START failed: Broken pipe ALSA lib pcm_hw.c:494:(snd_pcm_hw_start) SNDRV_PCM_IOCTL_START failed: Broken pipe artsd: pcm.c:5899: snd_pcm_mmap_commit: Assertion `frames <= snd_pcm_mmap_avail(pcm)' failed. How can I let arts work with alsa ? regards -- Johnny Geling Willem Coosemansstraat 152 3010 Leuven +32 485 75 71 88
