Problem with XMMS

hi!   My problem is that when i startx as a normal user i've to use su command in order to start playing mp3s in XMMS. I've to enter both commands in a console.   Maybe it's because i've mp3s on windows NTFS partition - i tried to change access rigths to it but I wasn't able, can user other than root use it? i've got 2.4.27 kernel.   Thanks in advance for any help:)   ML
