I think it's a debian-specific issue, in fact from the kmix handbook: KMix supports several platforms and sound drivers. Version 1.9 works with: -All Open Sound System platforms. Explicitly tested are LinuxÂ, FreeBSD, NetBSD and BSDI. -Solarisâ based machines. IRIXÂ based machines. - The ALSA soundcard driver. - HP-UXÂ based machines. I might be wrong, but i think it must be compiled with "--enable-alsa" flag or something like that. Andrea
