ethereal and tcpdump might be a little over kill. There is a utility that I really like called dsniff. It is a very cool app. From the dsniff man page: dsniff is a password sniffer which handles FTP, Telnet, SMTP, HTTP, POP, poppass, NNTP, IMAP, SNMP, LDAP, Rlogin, RIP, OSPF, PPTP MS-CHAP, NFS, VRRP, YP/NIS, SOCKS, X11, CVS, IRC, AIM, ICQ, Napster, PostgreSQL, Meeting Maker, Citrix ICA, Symantec pcAnywhere, NAI Sniffer, Microsoft SMB, Oracle SQL*Net, Sybase and Microsoft SQL protocols. -- ----------- Protect your privacy. http://www.epic.org http://www.gnupg.org PGP Key ID: 0xB7544D58 "On a long enough timeline, the survival rate for everyone drops to zero." -- Fight Club
