Can you post a copy of your /etc/apt/apt.conf and /etc/apt/ preferences file please (if you have either). Also post the output from running apt-get install kdebase. If you don't have either of the files mentioned above, try creating a file /etc/apt/preferences containing: Package: * Pin: origin download.kde.org Pin-Priority: 600 And do apt-get -u upgrade.
