I've been reading the KDE mailing lists on fonts, and noticed a couple things that might explain what's going on. 1. Konsole only shows fixed fonts. 2. The KDE font installer currently has a bug where it edits fixed fonts out of the font paths in fonts.conf: http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=55617 I think several people have commented that KDE fonts seem broken, and this might explain some of it. Maybe if I'm lucky it will have something to do with my problems.... None of the above is guaranteed true.
