Installed the 3.1 debs linked off http://kde.org on Woody then compiled and installed Alsa.
The problem is when I type, say, play test.wav in a konsole session it simply hangs without making any sound. Similarly when I run prboom there's no sound, but the KDE system sounds all work fine. On the other hand if I try play test.wav from a tty before running kde it plays fine. The kernel is a custom 2.4.18 however the .config is tried and tested with kde 3.0.3 on the same machine. The /etc/modules and /etc/modules.conf are also the same as had previously worked with 3.0.3 and alsa. Anyone have any ideas? -- John Keniry
